Thank You!!!

We want to thank everyone who participated in the Papa's Pizza fundraiser for Peyson on Wednesday. It was a great success and between the three locations over $1,500.00 was raised for Peyson's continuing treatment!
Thank you to Papa's Pizza - Springfield, Coburg, and West 11th! We couldn't have done it without you and we appreciate your generosity and kindness. We know your employees had a busy day trying to keep up with all of the orders and we sincerely appreciate all of their hard work!
We would also like to thank our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and the community for your continued kindness, words of encouragement, and generosity. Many have made direct donations to Peyson's family and to his medical fund. Many visited us in the hospital, sat with us while we waited for surgeries to be done, sent cards and letters to let us know you were thinking of us, and offered help in numerous ways during these past couple of months. Thank you all!
Peyson has about 4 1/2 more months of chemotherapy to get through, but he is doing well. The doctors and nurses at Doernbecher's are taking good care of him! Once his chemo treatments have been completed, he will have regular tests and scans for several years until the docs are sure that his cancer is gone. Your kindness and generosity will help his family to continue to care for his needs, and we just can't thank you enough!

Sincerely,
Peyson, Justine & Aaron Strebe, and the Ganieany/Strebe/Stewart families

A Little Surgery

Last Tuesday, Peyson had a little surgery at Doernbecher to install a chemotherapy port in his chest. It's a more permanent way to deliver the chemo and draw blood for testing.

Fundraiser!

To help with the expense of treatment, we're holding a Papa's Pizza fundraiser for Baby Peyson!
It will be on Wednesday January 23, 2013 at the West 11th, Coburg Road and Springfield locations. Papa's will donate 50% of all food purchases accompanied by this flyer to Peyson's medical fund. The flyer is available for download on Papa's website: http://www.papaspizza.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/local_012313.pdf
We are so thankful for the continued support of our family, friends and community!

Treatment at Doernbecher's

Ready for treatment!
Peyson completed six sessions of radiation and also has weekly chemotherapy appointments in Portland. If all goes according to plan, he should be done with chemo and cancer free by June.

The Incision

A big tumor means a big incision, and Peyson's extended from his ribs to his belly button. There were three layers of stitches holding everything together.

Recovering from Surgery

Such a big surgery is exhausting for a little guy.
Since his tumor was stage III and had ruptured a bit, he has to have additional treatments to make sure that he is cancer free.

Surgery Day

December 11, 2012 was the day of Peyson's surgery at Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland.
Here he is right before they took him back looking as cute as ever. The surgery was six hours long and included removing his entire right kidney, which the surgeon says didn't really qualify as a kidney anymore.
